PF Racing is thrilled to announce that IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race winner Chad McCumbee will be joining the Missouri outfit for selected races this season, starting at Sebring on July 17.
“I feel very fortunate to be joining PF Racing this season, and I am certainly ready to get on track at Sebring,” revealed the Supply, North Carolina, native. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with PF Racing before, and I look forward to being a part of their 2020 program. Jr and James do an amazing job keeping their entire team working together as one. The family atmosphere is exactly what I like in a race team. After working with James earlier this season, we have a similar feel to what we want in a racecar, and I feel that will be an important asset in getting our Ford out front!”
Chad has an impressive experience in motorsports, with multiple starts in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, NASAR Xfinity, and NASCAR Cup with the renowned Richard Petty Motorsports team, in addition to competing in the ARCA Racing Series since the early 2000s.
Since 2012, he has been participating in several IMSA races, winning the ST class Championship in 2015, then campaigning in the Michelin Pilot Challenge GS class in 2018, and claiming victory at Watkins Glen on a Ford Mustang GT4. The Multimatic driver also competed in England, where he raced a Ford Mustang GT4 in the SRO British GT Championship.
When Chad is not behind the wheel, he runs the championship-winning McCumbee McAleer Racing team, which competes in the Global MX-5 Cup. He is also the owner of Chad McCumbee Racing, providing oval track racing services.
McCumbee is no stranger to PF Racing as he helped the team clinch the win during the Intercontinental GT Challenge 8 Hours of Laguna Seca in 2019. For the past few years, Chad has been a great coach to James Pesek who only started professional racing in 2017.
“Chad and I work very well together,” said James, driver of the #40 Ford Mustang GT4 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. “He pushes me to perfect my driving skills and understands how I like to set up the car. We are a good match; I’m thrilled to be working with him again.”
McCumbee will be joining the Harrisonville team for almost every race with the exception of; Road America, VIR, and Road Atlanta as he has previous engagement with his CARS Tour campaign.
“We are thrilled to have Chad join the team once again,” said Jr Pesek, team owner. “Not only is he an excellent driver but with his experience behind the wheel and as a team owner, he is a great asset to our growing effort.”
